The Gloaming

5” x 5”

think summer evening when the fireflies begin to come alive.

This small print was created using an experimental technique I learned from The curious printmaker website. So fun! You take a discarded potato chip bag (the kind with the foil interior) and iron it beneath a towel. The foil then bubbles to create interesting wrinkles and shapes. I glued that to a piece of matboard, inked it, and did a viscosity roll. When I saw the print it reminded me of the feeling I get at dusk when evening falls, the air cools, and night sounds come alive.

“This grand show is eternal. it is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never all dried at once; a shower is forever falling, vapor is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal sunset, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in it turn as the earth rolls.” — John Muir
